Catherine is the creative force behind the band, writing most of the songs based on what's going on in her life. Her singing inspirations include Julie Andrews, Karen Carpenter, Ella Fitzgerald, and Nat King Cole. Catherine grew up in Wake Forest and, while she has been singing all of her life, she began performing in public after starting college. In addition to her originals, Catherine likes to introduce music from unknown bands and artists.
Robert hails originally from Long Island, New York. Early musical influences were classical music and later the essential The Who, Rush, Led Zeppelin, Kansas, Yes, Boston, along with jazz-rock artists like Steve Morse and Larry Carlton. He has performed with a variety of blues/rock projects and contemporary Christian bands.
In addition to writing and performing with Mister Felix, Robert enjoys teaching guitar lessons to motivated students, recording and mixing CDs for local artists, and providing high quality sound services for outdoor festivals and other events with his company, .
Ted has played with a variety of original and cover bands in the Raleigh area - spanning rock, folk, reggae, jazz, and world music. In addition to his work with Mister Felix, he enjoys playing in informal and acoustic settings and learning anything new and different. Currently, he is challenged with working on his sight reading skills, playing string bass and tuba parts with the orchestra at Pullen Memorial Baptist Church.
Since junior high school, Robert has played with diverse groups ranging from 3 piece rock and roll, to 14 piece rhythm & blues, to doing show tunes in the orchestra pit. Influences also include traditional jazz, blues, funk, and crossover country.
While in college, Robert joined the national recording group, The Fireballs, whose hits include Sugar Shack and Bottle of Wine. He also worked as staff studio player in major studios in Los Angeles, New York, Miami, Muscle Shoals, Denver, Dallas, and St. Louis. He currently enjoys the diversity and talents of working with Mister Felix.
